What is the Saskatchewan Community Panel?

The SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel is an SSRL-developed and curated panel of Saskatchewan residents, 18 years of age and older, who have consented to be contacted by the SSRL for future research on a variety of topics. Panelists may be asked to partake in online survey-based research or experimental research through the SSRL's Voxco Online Survey Software

Why collect data through the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel?

Unlike many other existing online panels, the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel recruits its members through rigorous probability-based sampling methods. This ensures a more representative sample that more closely aligns with the demographic make-up of the province of Saskatchewan.

Participants are recruited into the Saskatchewan Community Panel through the SSRL Quarterly Omnibus Telephone Survey, conducted every March, June, September and December. Because panelists in the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel have consented to be contacted for future research, they provide a ready and convenient sample for academic and community-based research with a Saskatchewan focus.

Panel Specifications

The SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel includes a number of core demographic variables that allow researchers to target specific populations within the province. Panelists may be recruited to complete a study based on gender, their geographic location, their age, education, occupational status, household income, or a combination of two of more of these variables.

There is no set minimum number of panelists that may be recruited to any study, while the maximum number of participants is dependent on the total number of active panelists in the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel at the time of the study. Additional panelists will be added to the Saskatchewan Community Panel each quarter (March, June, September and December) at the conclusion of the SSRL Quarterly Omnibus Telephone Survey.

The following table outlines the number of panelists currently available through the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel by each of the core demographic variables.

Costs and Deliverables

Costs associated with the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel are assessed at a cost per completed survey per panelist. The cost per completion ranges from $2 per completed survey per panelist for current University of Saskatchewan students to $6 per completed survey per panelist for individuals, groups and organizations external to the University of Saskatchewan. For example, a University of Saskatchewan faculty member wishing to survey 400 panelists through the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel would be assessed a panel administration fee of $1,600 (400 panelists x $4 per completed survey).

Researchers who utilize the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel are expected to collect data using the SSRL's Voxco Online Survey Software to ensure the integrity of the panel and the confidentiality of the panelists. Any data produced through the SSRL Saskatchewan Community Panel is stripped of personal identifying information and is delivered in Excel or SPSS file formats.

Additional Services
